ALL - A Physical Poem of Protest, 2019
In September 2019, I had the privilege of participating in a collaborative movement piece, conceptualized by artist Mia Habib, as part of the Time Based Art Festival 2019 in Portland, OR. There were two performances, both durational endurance pieces. One for one hour in the public Pioneer Square in which most performers were clothed and a few were nude, and one for three hours inside at PICA (Portland Institute for Contemporary Art), performed in varying states of nudity throughout the performance. In her words, it “investigates the individual and shared agency of choreography in social, political, and artistic spaces. An epic durational community performance, it considers the force of the protesting body and human mass through the meditative action of walking and running in circles.” Here are two still shots from the performance in Pioneer Square.
